Who are we?

Our rotating cast of musicians:

Dan Liptak:

A recent 2010 graduate of the Hartt School of Music in Hartford CT, Dan Liptak is active both as a clarinetist and a saxophonist. As a chamber musician Dan has performed in concerts throughout New England, Europe and Asia with Performance 20/20, the North East New Music Collective, the Vermont Youth Orchestra and most notably with the Anatolian Trio. With the Anatolian Trio he has premièred a dozen new works and has completed two New England tours and two tours of Turkey. An active orchestra musician Dan has performed with several New England Symphonies and has performed as a soloist internationally in Quebec and Turkey as well as regionally with the Vermont Youth Orchestra, the Hartt Independent Chamber Orchestra, the Hartt School Contemporary Players and the Haccettepe Chamber Orchestra.

On saxophone, Dan has performed in Boston, New York City and all over Vermont with various groups. Festivals include multiple performances at the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival and the Berklee Jazz Festival. Dan has recorded and performed with Forward Motion, a blues funk based band out of Hartford CT. Between the years of 2005 and 2010 Dan was  heard performing in Hartford CT jazz clubs.

Currently, Dan resides in Montpelier Vermont with his wife, saxophonist Kate Noyes. Dan freelances with several groups around New England and spends time traveling with the Anatolian Trio.

Cory Beard:

Raised in Vermont and benefitting from a great high school music department, Cory has taken advantage of the local music scene as well as played in Ireland and around the Northeast.  As a student of the bass, Cory studied with many musicians including John Rivers (University of Vermont), Bruce Sklar  (Director of Harwood Union High School Jazz Program), John Geggie (Crane School of Music), Stacy Starkweather, and Aaron Hersey.  He’s had the privilege of playing with Joe Davidian, Zack DuPont, Taryn Noelle, Grace Potter, and Michael Arnowitt.

Having been born in Japan, lived in London until the age of four, and travelled to Asia, South America, and Europe, Cory has a diverse background but remains a true Vermonter.
